Fly Amulet

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Fly Amulet by New Kingdom is a small, blue-green glass or stone object. The object is shaped like a fly with a bulbous head and a large body. The head features two small protrusions on top which represent the fly's eyes. The body has two visible wings. The object has a glossy finish with visible cracks and imperfections. It casts a shadow on a gray surface. The fly's wings are positioned as if in mid-flight. The object is lying on its side, angled diagonally.
