Tetradrachm: Zeus (reverse)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The coin is circular and made of dark gray metal. A seated man with long hair and a beard is depicted. He sits on a chair with a backrest composed of multiple horizontal rungs. The man wears a cloth draped over his left shoulder and around his waist. His right arm extends outward, and his right hand offers something to a bird with long legs standing on a small altar-like structure. The bird's head is turned to the right. The man's left arm is bent at the elbow, and his left hand holds an object. To the right of the figure, there are Greek letters inscribed vertically.
