Stater: Head of Kore (obverse); Barley (reverse)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Stater by Head of Kore depicts a coin with two sides. The obverse side shows a woman's head facing right. Her hair is short in the back and pulled up over the top and to the front; her bangs hang down to her eyebrows in straight lines. The woman wears a necklace or other jewelry with a pendant around her neck. The reverse side depicts a bunch of grains of barley. The obverse side of the coin is darker than the reverse. The coin is made of a dark metallic material and has a bumpy texture.
