Garden Pot

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Garden Pot by James Gamble has a cylindrical shape with a flat top. The pot is made of stone or concrete and features a carving of an eagle with its wings spread out. The eagle appears to be standing on something resembling a bundle of sticks or a nest. On either side of the eagle are carvings that appear to be human-like figures; one on the right seems to be playing a wind instrument. The background of the image is a gradient from dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom. The pot casts a shadow on the surface below it.
