Needlepoint (Drawnwork) Lace Insertion and Bobbin Lace Edging

Cleveland Museum of Art

Off-white rectangular piece of lace with a frayed top edge. The top section features a repeating pattern of flowers with five petals and leaves, connected by curved stems. Below the flower pattern are two horizontal rows of small loops. The bottom section consists of a repeating diamond pattern with curved lines and small loops. The background is solid black. The lace appears to be made up of two distinct sections: needlepoint drawnwork lace insertion at the top and bobbin lace edging at the bottom.
