Lace Insertion

Cleveland Museum of Art

Lace insertion by an unknown artist. A long horizontal piece of intricately made beige lace against a black background. The lace consists of a repeating pattern with floral motifs and leaf-like shapes throughout. Two horizontal lines run through the middle separating three distinct patterned sections. The top edge features a scalloped design with pointed shapes resembling leaves or flowers. The bottom edge is less uniform with an organic wavy appearance.
