Head of a Mourner
The Head of a Mourner, by an unknown artist, is a sculpture of a person's head. The sculpture is made of white marble and shows a head covered by a hood or cowl folded over the top and back of the head. The face is partially obscured; the visible part shows the nose and mouth. The mouth is downturned. The bottom of the sculpture shows folds of fabric; the folds are vertical on the back and angled on the front and appear wet. The surface is scratched and discolored. The background is monochromatic dark to light gray.
