Bullfights: The Very Skilful Student of Falces, Wrapped in his Cape, Tricks the Bull with the Play of his Body

Francisco de Goya

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a black and white scene of a bullfight. A man in a dark outfit and hat is positioned on the left side, leaning forward with his right leg extended behind him and his left leg bent in front. He appears to be interacting with a large bull that is facing him, its head lowered and horns visible. The bull's body is angled to the right, with its tail raised. In the background, a wall with a flat top is visible, and a crowd of people can be seen sitting or standing along the top of the wall, although their features are not clearly defined. The overall atmosphere suggests a dramatic and intense moment in a bullfighting event.
