A staircase is visible on the right side. The men are dressed in robes and head coverings, and are kneeling on the floor. They are arranged in rows, facing the same direction. There are some illegible handwritten notes at the bottom of the sketch. The paper is aged and has some discoloration and marks on it. The overall atmosphere suggests a place of worship. The title of the artwork is "Tartars at Prayer" and the artist is Auguste Raffet.
