Food Bowl

Cleveland Museum of Art

The bowl titled "Food Bowl" by the artist is a woven basket. The bowl is positioned with its opening facing upwards and is centered in the image. The bowl has a wide mouth and a rounded body that tapers slightly towards the bottom. The bowl's body is made of tightly coiled, thin strips of light-brown material, possibly grass, straw, or reeds, that are woven together in a horizontal pattern. The bowl features two thin, dark-brown lines that encircle the body, one near the top and one near the bottom. Between these lines, there are two identical, dark-brown, square-shaped designs with spiral patterns inside them, positioned on either side of the bowl. The background of the image is a gradient of dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom. The bowl casts a shadow on the surface below it.
