A howdah, decorated with a castle scene on top and a cross on the front, sits on the elephant's back. The howdah has a base with a scalloped edge. The elephant wears a harness underneath the howdah. The image is a black and white drawing on off-white paper with a textured appearance. The background of the drawing is mottled with darker and lighter areas. The artist's initials "M S" are written at the bottom.
