Vom Tode I, (Opus II, 1889) No. 2

Max Klinger

Cleveland Museum of Art

Two black and white illustrations on a beige background. The top illustration shows a seascape with a large rock formation in the water. On the left a large octopus is draped over a rock. Three men are on the rocks; two are on one side of a rock facing each other and holding hands. The third man with an open shirt and dark pants is on the other side of the rock with his back turned and arms outstretched. The bottom illustration depicts a chaotic scene with multiple people in various poses. Some appear to be dressed in old-fashioned clothing and others are nude. The scene appears to be taking place in a wooded area with foliage and trees.
