Tunjos (Votive Offering Figurine)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Tunjos, a votive offering figurine by an unknown artist, is a small, brown-colored sculpture. It depicts a humanoid figure with a tall, flat hat or headdress that has two rectangular protrusions on either side. The figure has a simple face with two small eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Its arms are positioned at the chest, with the right arm bent at the elbow and the left arm straight. The figure wears a loincloth and has a decorative band around its waist. The feet are flat and wide, with five toes visible on each foot. The background of the image is a gradient of gray, transitioning from dark at the top to light at the bottom.
