The Temple of Flora, or Garden of Nature: Blue Egyptian Waterlily

Robert John Thornton

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a blue water lily with large green leaves and a yellow center. Three large green lily pads are in the foreground, one with a flower bud, one with a fully bloomed blue flower, and one on the left with a small circular spot in the center. A body of water is behind the lily pads. In the background, there is a building with a dome and a tower to the left. Two palm trees are on either side of the image, one on the left with multiple trunks and one on the right with a single trunk. A mountain range is behind the building. The sky is blue at the top and fades into a light pink towards the horizon. A beige border surrounds the image.
