A Selection of Twenty of the Most Picturesque Views in Paris: View of Pont Neuf, part of the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the College of Four Nations

Thomas Girtin

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a sepia-toned drawing of a cityscape. A river runs horizontally across the bottom half. On the far side, a bridge with many arches spans the river. On the near side, a low wall runs along the river, with a set of stairs leading down to the water. A row of boats is pulled up on the shore. A road runs along the left side, with buildings and people. Further left, more buildings line the road. Across the river, several large buildings are visible, including one with a dome and one with two tall towers. People and a horse-drawn carriage are on the road. The sky is light-colored, with several darker spots.
