Folio 115 from a Gandavyuha-sutra (Scripture of the Supreme Array): Sudhana and a buffalo (recto); text (verso)
Two long, narrow, rectangular pieces of aged, light-brown material with rounded edges, likely palm leaves or paper, are shown side by side on a beige surface. The upper piece features black writing in a foreign script on the left and right thirds, with a central square illustration. The illustration depicts a dark-haired, light-skinned man in a pink garment with a green sash. He holds a stem with green leaves in his right hand and grasps the horn of a large brown buffalo with his left hand. The buffalo's head protrudes from the right edge of the illustration. Four holes are punched along the center of each piece, and the lower piece has black writing covering its surface.
