Embroidered Towel (Peshkir)

Cleveland Museum of Art

The embroidered towel, or Peshkir, is rectangular with a rough, uneven edge around its perimeter. The material appears to be off-white or cream-colored. The top and bottom edges of the towel feature a decorative floral pattern. The pattern consists of five identical floral motifs, spaced evenly apart. The floral motifs are composed of pink flowers, blue and pink curved lines, green leaves, and brown stems and leaves. A brown stitched line borders the top and bottom of the towel. The background behind the towel is solid gray.
