Master of the Brussels Initials and Associates

A parchment page from a medieval manuscript is shown. The page is on the right side of an opened book. Black text in an old-style font fills most of the right side of the parchment. The text is surrounded by a border on three sides. The border contains illustrations of a tree with blue branches adorned with green leaves and small colorful shields. Two men in brightly colored clothes are drawn along the left and bottom borders. The man on the left has pink skin. He wears a blue shirt and holds a red object. He has a long, curly pink tail. The man on the bottom wears a green hat and blue shirt with red pants. He holds a plate with a pie on it. Several birds are illustrated flying around the border. A black background is visible behind the left edge of the parchment and below it.
