Master of the Brussels Initials and Associates

The image is of a page from an illuminated manuscript. The page is yellowed parchment with brown ink text. The text is written vertically down the center of the page in a large font and horizontally along the left side and below the vertical text in a smaller font. The vertical text and some horizontal text are decorated with blue, red, gold and white geometric designs. The edges of the text are decorated with red lines. The top and bottom of the page have a border of blue vines with leaves and flowers in shades of red, green and gold. Butterflies and birds are scattered throughout the border. On the right side of the page, a red monkey-like creature climbs the vine border, appearing to be holding onto it with its tail. At the bottom of the page, a man sits on the left, dressed in a green robe and blue tunic and stockings, holding an object in both hands. The man is surrounded by a blue vase and a red and gold dish. The bottom right of the border has a bird. The background behind the page is black.
