Noh Mask: Waka-onna

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Noh Mask: Waka-onna is a wooden mask with a predominantly brown color and visible signs of wear, including scratches and areas where the surface has chipped off. The mask features a human-like face with a rounded top, resembling a bald head. It has two small holes for the eyes, a nose, and a mouth with red-painted lips. Two small red strings are attached on either side, presumably for securing the mask. The background of the image is a plain gray color, with the mask casting a shadow to the right.
