The left and right sketches are nearly identical and show a man sitting on a ledge with a cityscape and body of water behind him. The man wears a head covering and long dark jacket. He holds a smoking pipe and a container sits beside him. The middle sketch appears to be a pencil sketch of the same scene, but the image is faded. The artist's signature appears in the lower-left corner of the left and right sketches. A number '9' appears in the lower-right corner of the right sketch. The title and artist are in a small label on the bottom-right of the frame. The frame has a thin black line around the edge. The image shows a cityscape with buildings and a bridge spanning the body of water. The cityscape appears to be Constantinople.
