The Stagecoach for Parliamentary Purposes (recto) Study for Cab and Front Left Wheel of Coach and Study for Head of Crowned Figure Seated on Top of Coach (verso)

Edward Tennyson Reed

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image shows two sketches. The left sketch depicts a detailed drawing of a stagecoach with a man walking in front of it. The stagecoach has a large ornate crest on the back with two crowned figures on top and two on the sides. The stagecoach also features two large wheels and two men sitting on top. A man wearing a hat, a long coat, and knee-high socks walks in front of the stagecoach. He holds a stick in his right hand. The right sketch shows a faint pencil drawing on a yellowed piece of paper of what appears to be the same stagecoach. A circular object resembling a seal is located near the top-right corner. A head of a crowned figure sitting on top of a coach and a front left wheel of the coach are drawn in the lower right.
