The Fragment of a Caftan by unknown artist shows a piece of aged fabric with a beige background and dark brown designs. The fabric is irregularly shaped with rough edges. The design features two repeating patterns of a warrior on horseback and a lion. The warrior on horseback is depicted in two different scenes. In one scene the warrior appears to be on a horse fighting a lion; they are positioned in a hexagonal shape. The horse and rider are on the top and bottom of the hexagon, while a lion is on the right and left. A dotted border surrounds this design. The bottom of the fabric shows another scene, similar but not identical, with a warrior on horseback. There are also designs resembling plants or feathers in the corners.
