Double-leaf from Album of Actor Portraits by Shōrakusai: The image shows a book opened to a double-page spread. The left page is blank except for a thin black border around the edge and several lines of black Japanese characters written vertically down the center. The right page depicts a Japanese man with a stern expression. He has black hair combed back and styled on top of his head in a distinctive fashion with a curved section of hair on the right side. The man wears a white ruffled collar and a dark-colored robe with a brown and black checkered pattern. Behind his head is a tan object resembling a hat. A blue strip of paper with Japanese characters is affixed vertically along the right edge. The background of the portrait page is beige. The pages have a thin black border around the edges and a thicker black line separating the two pages. The pages have an aged appearance with some discoloration and wear.
