Funerary Urn (Hunping)

Funerary Urn (Hunping) by unknown artist. This is a ceramic urn with a greenish-brown glaze. The urn has a wide body, rounded shoulder and narrow base. The base of the urn appears to be made of terracotta-colored clay. Several raised horizontal lines wrap around the body of the urn. Various raised scenes are depicted on the body of the urn including people, animals and possibly shields. The top of the urn has a smaller rounded bowl with a wide mouth turned upside down on top of it. This smaller portion of the urn is decorated with figurines wearing traditional dress standing around the base. The figurines appear to be under a roof or canopy which has an openwork design and a pagoda-style roof. The roof of the urn is decorated with flame-like designs. The background of the image is gray with shadow at the bottom.
