Mirror with Four Nipples, Immortals, Dragon and Tiger

Cleveland Museum of Art

The Mirror with Four Nipples, Immortals, Dragon and Tiger, by an unknown artist, is a round, dark-colored mirror. The mirror has a raised outer edge with a patterned border. Inside the border is a raised design featuring four nipple-like protrusions. Centered among these protrusions are depictions of two immortals, a dragon, and a tiger. The immortals are wearing traditional robes. The dragon is depicted on the top side of the mirror with a pearl, and the tiger on the bottom. Four circular inlays are positioned between the immortals, dragon, and tiger. The center of the mirror features a large circular inlay. The mirror appears to be made of a dark metal with green patina. The background behind the mirror is dark at the top and lightens to gray at the bottom.
