Crouching Figure

Cleveland Museum of Art

Crouching Figure by Isumangium (Inuit, Canadian, born 1946): A sculpture of a humanoid figure made from dark green stone with lighter brown and white spots. The figure has a large head with a face carved into it, and two small holes for eyes. It has a bulbous body with arms raised in front of the chest and legs spread apart. The figure appears to be crouching or squatting on a flat base. The stone has a shiny appearance, suggesting it may be polished. The background of the image is gray.
