Sketchbook, page 01: Street Scene

Ernest Meissonier

Cleveland Museum of Art

A sketch of a street scene drawn in pencil on a piece of aged paper with visible rust-colored stains and darker discoloration around the edges, three holes punched down the left side, indicating it may have been part of a sketchbook; the sketch shows buildings on both sides of the street with details not fully defined, a tree in the center ground, and the paper has a rough texture.
