Missale: Fol. 172: Music for "Alleluia" etc. at beginning of Easter

Bartolommeo Caporali

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image shows a yellowed, aged piece of paper with black and red text and musical notes. The left side of the image contains 10 red lines with black square-shaped musical notes on them. The right side of the image contains black and red text written in an old-fashioned font. The text on the right side is arranged in two columns. The left column of text starts on the same horizontal level as the fifth line of music and continues down. The right column of text is on the right side of an ornate vertical line and starts at the top. The text on the right side of the image is mostly written in black ink, but several lines are written in red ink. The background of the image is the yellowed paper. The paper appears to have darker edges than in the center, and there are darker spots throughout. An ornate black line drawing connects the musical notations on the left to the text on the right. The drawing starts at the top and ends near the bottom. The drawing resembles a vine.
