Egypt and Nubia, Volume II: Island of Philae, on the Nile, Nubia

Louis Haghe

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image features a sepia-toned illustration of a landscape. A body of water occupies the bottom half. On the far side of the water, a small island or peninsula is visible. The land has several palm trees and some buildings. A structure with four columns stands on the left side. A boat floats on the water in the foreground, near the right side. Birds fly in the water and sky. Vegetation protrudes from the water on the left. The sky is light-colored with some clouds. The illustration is surrounded by a light-colored border. Text at the bottom reads "THE ISLAND OF PHILAE BY SUNSET".
