Liber Studiorum: Plate 23, Ruins at Beeston, Norfolk: No. 3

John Sell Cotman

Cleveland Museum of Art

The image depicts a black and white drawing of crumbling stone ruins surrounded by trees. The ruins are in the center of the image. Three large arches stand in the middle. The arches are pointed at the top. The stone wall to the left of the arches appears to be crumbling and broken. A pile of rubble sits on steps to the right of the arches. Trees and bushes surround the ruins on both sides. In front of the ruins, to the left, is a wooden fence. The ground around the ruins is covered in grass and other foliage. The background of the image is a light tan color. The image is titled and signed in the bottom corners.
