Text, Folio 28 (verso), from a Kalpa-sutra

Cleveland Museum of Art

A long, rectangular piece of aged paper with text written in black ink and a few red circular decorations. The paper is light beige with darker edges and a few darker spots. Three vertical red stripes run down the page on the left, middle and right. The left and right stripes are thin while the middle stripe is wider. Three red circles, one on either side and one in the center, are on the page. The text on the paper is written in a language that appears to be Sanskrit or another ancient Indian language. The text is written in a flowing script with intricate lettering. The background behind the paper is plain and light gray.
