Bread Plate

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

White plate with a wide rim. The rim is decorated with a gold rope pattern around the edge and another around the inner rim. Between the two rope patterns, the rim has scattered floral motifs in purple, pink, green and red. The plate's center contains a crest with floral elements, a bird on top and a shield divided into sections. The shield has black and white sections and white stars. A gold object frames the bottom of the shield. The plate's edge is rimmed in gold.
