Commode

Stephen A. Fish

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Commode by Stephen A. Fish is a black and white photograph of a wooden piece of furniture. The furniture has a flat top and four legs. The top section has a dark wood grain pattern. A small drawer is positioned on the front, slightly to the left of center, with a small circular knob. Below the drawer, there is a larger section with a door made of various wood panels of different colors and textures, some smooth and some textured. Two vertical panels on either side of the door are textured. The background is plain white, and a shadow is cast to the left.
