Side Chair

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Side Chair by this artist features a black wooden frame with a rectangular backrest. The backrest has a flat top and a decorative row of small circles around its perimeter. Below the circles at the bottom of the backrest are seven vertical, rounded spindles. The chair's seat and backrest are upholstered in white fabric with thin, darker stripes. A decorative border of small circles encircles the edges of both the seat and backrest. The chair has four tapered legs with ornamental feet and small casters on the bottom. Two stretcher bars connect the front and back legs under the seat. The chair appears to be against a plain gray background.
