Chest of drawers

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The chest of drawers by Thomas Sheraton features a serpentine-shaped piece of furniture with a flat top that slightly overhangs the body. The chest has four curved drawers, each with a brass oval pull and a smaller inset keyhole. The drawers are divided into two sections, with two drawers on either side. The legs are curved and tapered, ending in a rounded square shape. The entire piece boasts a rich, dark wood finish with visible grain patterns. A subtle molding runs along the top edge of the chest. The piece stands on a white surface with a gradient gray background.
