Compote

Long Island Flint Glass Works of Christian Dorflinger

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Clear glass compote with a wide, shallow bowl and a narrow stem. The bowl has a scalloped rim. Etched designs on the bowl include a band of etched figures around the middle. Below the etched figures is a band of cross-hatching that extends to the bottom of the bowl. The stem is attached to a round base with etched lines radiating from the center. The background behind the compote fades from dark gray at the corners to white in the center.
