Covered Jar

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Covered Jar by Toshiko Mori is a ceramic vessel with a rounded body and a lid, featuring a reddish-brown color with darker brown and black streaks. The jar has a wide mouth and a small knob on top of the lid. Two small handles are visible on either side of the jar, just below the lid. The background of the image is a gradient of gray, transitioning from dark at the top to light at the bottom. The jar casts a shadow on the surface below it.
