Pitcher

Union Porcelain Works

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The pitcher has a bulbous body with a flared mouth and a curved spoutless lip. A handle with gold-colored metalwork shaped like a cat's head and tail protrudes from the right side. A white bird with outstretched wings and a gold beak protrudes from the left side. The body of the pitcher features a light blue background with raised white figures on the front depicting two men shaking hands. They are dressed in clothing resembling military uniforms. A band of pink, orange, and yellow flowers encircles the top. The base and handle have thin gold-colored bands.
