Sauceboat

Anthony Rasch

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Silver sauceboat with a spout on the right side and a handle on the left side. The handle is shaped like a snake and is curved over the top of the boat. The spout is ornately decorated on top with a leafy design ending in a horn-like shape. The bowl of the boat sits on a pedestal base with a decorative edge and three small feet. The feet are claw-shaped and rest on the ground. The base has a decorative molding around the top and bottom. The entire piece appears to be made of silver.
