Duncan Phyfe

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Taboret by Duncan Phyfe is a low-set stool with a square seat. The seat is covered in light-colored upholstery with a large circular floral design in the center and a smaller border around the edge. The legs are curved and made of dark wood, forming an X shape at the bottom with a horizontal curved support piece connecting them. The front and back legs are curved and taper to a point at the floor. The stool is angled slightly to the right. The background is light gray.
