Vase

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows two identical white vases by artist William F. The bases of the vases are round and have a wide base that tapers slightly outward. Above the base, the body of each vase is shaped like a ribbed funnel with narrow dark stripes. The lower body of each vase features applied decoration resembling bunches of grapes. A twisted rope design encircles the neck, below a ribbed flared mouth. The tops of the vases flare out like a shell. The vases sit on a shelf against a wall.
