The man wears a white collared shirt with billowy sleeves, a red robe with long hanging sleeves and blue and white decorative collar and cuffs; robe decorated with pink, blue and white patterns; a large gold medallion on a chain hangs around his neck; long dark hair in braids on either side of his head; a short square dark hat on top of his head. The background depicts a pillar on either side, a brown oval on the wall behind the man, and blue wall panels on either side of the oval. A small white paper label is centered on the bottom frame edge. The text on bottom reads "EMBROIDERED PICTURE OF CHARLES I".
