The Sampler by Hannah B. Loring shows a framed piece of needlework with a clock at the top center. The clock is surrounded by an arch with a landscape scene on either side. Two columns are on either side of the arch, each with a decorative design at the top. Under the arch, "THE FAMILY" is written in large letters. Under that are the words "of Matthew Loring & Mary" and then "Nancy Erzah and Jerry Loring". Under those words is a list of 16 names with their birthdates and places. The bottom of the piece has a design with three sections, each with writing. The frame is black and rectangular.
