Covered potpourri vase

Ott and Brewer

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a covered potpourri vase. The vase is bulbous with a wide base that tapers toward the top. The base has three feet. The lower two thirds of the vase are purple with green, blue, orange and gold floral designs. The top third of the vase is pink with a scale-like pattern. The top of the vase has a lid with a small finial. A gold handle extends from the sides of the vase, just below the lid, and curves up and over the top. The handle and finial are ornately decorated. The background of the image is dark gray, with the vase casting a slight shadow.
