The chair has a rectangular backrest with a flat top. The backrest top features an inlaid design with gold-colored filigree on a black background, bordered by red and gold. A gold-colored design depicting a vase with two winged creatures on either side is centered on the top. The backrest and seat are made of woven cane. The chair's frame is primarily black with gold-colored inlays. The front and side aprons feature a red and gold border with repeating gold-colored motifs. The legs are tapered and curved. The chair is titled "Side Chair" and attributed to "Benjamin Henry Latrobe".
