Seated, Bearded Man [Falstaff?]; Lucretia [? and ?]; Three Dancing Putti (from Sketchbook)

Thomas Sully

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image features a pencil sketch on gray paper of four figures. The top center figure is a seated, bearded man with long hair, wearing a robe or cloth wrapped around his lower body. He appears to be sitting on a surface with one leg bent and the other extended. To the right, a nude figure with short hair and both arms raised is depicted. At the bottom, two small nude figures, possibly children or putti, are shown dancing or embracing, with their arms around each other. The background of the sketch is mostly blank, with some faint pencil marks.
