The Metropolitan Museum of Art

A traditional Japanese samurai helmet is illustrated. The helmet has a black top with gold lines radiating from a circle at the center. A gold band encircles the base of the top. The face guard is down, and it and the neck guard are composed of horizontal strips of metal in black, gold, blue, red, and white. The strips are scalloped on the bottom edge. The face guard has a beige section on the forehead with a blue outline and gold accents on either side. A red cord with tassel is attached to the right side. The background is off-white with Japanese writing throughout.
