Flintlock Gun

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Flintlock Gun by the artist has a wooden stock with a glossy finish, exhibiting a medium to dark brown color with visible wood grain patterns. The stock is thicker at the rear and tapers towards the front. The gun's metal components, including the barrel and lock, appear to have a dark, possibly blued or patinated finish. The barrel is long and cylindrical, with a slight narrowing near the muzzle end. A small, curved metal piece is located near the front of the trigger guard. The trigger guard itself is a thin, curved piece of metal that protects the trigger from accidental discharge. The gun's lock, situated on the left side of the weapon, features a cock with a small, hammer-like piece at the rear. A frizzen, or battery, is positioned in front of the cock.
