Rapier

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The sword has a metal hilt with a ribbed spherical pommel on top of a short cylindrical section. The grip is wrapped in dark material with a twisted rope-like pattern. A circular guard with a concave cross-section protects the hand; it has six rounded ribs on the outside and three on the inside. Two long quillons extend out to either side with a slight downward curve. The blade is long and straight with visible signs of wear, and appears to be made of a single piece of metal with the hilt. The background is gray. The sword is titled "Rapier".
